The mission of Woodlands Trail and Park is to preserve and develop an ecosystem dedicated to creating daily public opportunities for recreation, ecotourism and education in a natural and historic setting. The achievements of the Woodlands Trail and Park in creating a legacy for future generations has continued despite devastation brought by Hurricane Katrina. The team has continued to accomplish its mission in an area that sustained significant damage. 609-acres of one of Louisiana’s last remaining coastal forests has been undergoing restoration and reforestation to enhance vital habitat for over 100 species of migratory birds.
