A specialist in African American Literature, Kendric L. Coleman earned his Ph.D. from Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge in 2005. Before joining the faculty at VSU, Dr. Coleman served in the Department of English at Southern University-Baton Rouge for almost 12 years at various appointment levels. His research challenges the assumptions that undergird the constructions of race and gender politics through interdisciplinary interrogation. He has published and presented scholarly works critiquing black masculinity on Richard Wright, Nathan McCall, Frederick Douglass, Claude Brown, and James Earl Hardy.
