A recurring patient with
severe allergic rhinitis
(hay fever) was by a
pharmacy referred to a
physician, who referred
her to an allergy
specialist.
Blood tests
showed a high
Timothy-grass
antibody.
New blood tests
was negative
for
transglutaminas

DQ2/DQ8, and
therefore it
almost certainly
wasnt coeliac
The patient had a
deviation from the
normal range with
respect to
cholesterol, LDL,
But...
The patient subsequently
received three years of allergy
vaccination but some symptoms
still persisted (stuffy nose, GI
symptoms and fatigue),
indicating that this patient could
have non-coeliac gluten
sensitivity (NCGS).

NCGS - Non-coeliac gluten sensitivity - has been coined to
describe those individuals who cannot tolerate gluten and
experience symptoms similar to those with coeliac disease
but yet who lack the same antibodies and intestinal damage
as seen in coeliac disease. (celiaccentral.org)

patients.
Since diagnosis of NCGS is based on
exclusion criteria, i.e. a period without
gluten, the allergist ordered an
abstinence of gluten and milk (milk
protein cross react with gliadin) for 3
months to observe the symptoms.
