As most of you know, I married Glenn Lavenburg (Lake High School Class of '87) in May 1994 after almost 9 years of dating. Tragically, Glenn died due to injuries he sustained from a traffic accident on June 8, 1997. During this difficult time, I managed to finish my doctorate degree & received a PhD in Physiology from Kent State in December 1998.
I needed to get away after Glenn's death, so I accepted a postdoctoral position at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and did research in cancer genetics.
