Born in Kansas City, MO, I moved to Chicago when I was 16. I graduated from Conant High in '91 and then went on to Northwestern where I studied till I got a PhD in Computer Engineering. Now I work as a permanent faculty at Soka University, teaching Bioinformatics and doing research in glycome informatics.
