Dr Sathyan earned his PhD in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from University of South Australia, Australia in 2010. His PhD research work dealt with Mechanical Engineering Design and Tribology.
Dr. Sathyan worked in the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) about 20 years as Scientist and Project Manager of strategic projects. He has solved many design and tribological problems related to spacecraft attitude control systems. As part of PhD at University of South Australia, he has developed a novel system for the long-term unattended lubrication of high-speed moving mechanical systems for future spacecrafts requiring very long life.
