The Solidarity Fund PL (known until 2013 as the Polish Foundation for International Cooperation for Development “Knowing How”), a State Treasury Foundation, was established in the late 1990s at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Poland. The Fund supports democracy (including local democracy and self-government) in countries undergoing political transformation, including Ukraine. In 2015 the Solidarity Fund PL began to perform specific tasks in the area of support for the self-governance reforms in Ukraine. For the better delivering of the support for Ukrainian beneficiaries, the Solidarity Fund PL set up an Office in Kyiv.
