Lauretta Dawolo Towns is a native of the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans, LA and refers to herself as a student of the written word. Lauretta earned her B.A. in English and American & Racial Multicultural Studies with a Media Studies minor at St. Olaf College. Her professional background is in community and ethnic media, specializing in coverage of underrepresented and underserved populations. As a undergraduate student , she was able to begin publishing bylines for StreetWise newspaper and The Chicago Defender, both located in Chicago, IL.
