Global warming refers to the rise in average surface temperatures of the Earth due to the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect occurs when greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane accumulate in the atmosphere and trap heat. The main causes of global warming are deforestation and landfill sites. Deforestation removes trees that absorb carbon dioxide while decomposition at landfills releases methane into the air. Effects of global warming include severe droughts, floods, and melting glaciers which cause sea level rise. Steps to prevent further global warming include planting more trees, reducing waste through reuse and recycling, and decreasing the use of cars and energy.

THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT It refers to the accumulation of gases like carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere (Vivtzu, 2011). These gases are called the greenhouse gases As a result, more heat is trapped within the atmosphere This leads to the rise in the average global temperature

CAUSES OF GLOBAL WARMING They include: Deforestation Landfills sites
DEFORESTATION It refers to the act of cutting trees down. Trees and other plants collect and absorb carbon dioxide (Vaishakh Mv, 2015). LANDFILL SITES Landfills consist of garbage. Decomposition of garbage releases Methane, which is a greenhouse gas. Methane accumulates the atmosphere. This causes the greenhouse effect, This leads to global warming.
