You have to be pretty small-minded to think science and belief in a creator are somehow mutually exclusive.? I can easily believe in a creative force, likely beyond our comprehension, that made this exquisitely-designed and immense universe. You could call that force "God". And maybe it was created to foster life, sentient and otherwise. No need to hamstring your mind with literal interpretations of religious texts; science only contradicts the silly details, not the overall concept of a creator.
