Mahlikah is Kiswahili for Angel and Awe:ri is Mohawk for Heart.
Mahlikah Awe:ri made her debut as a Spoken-Word Artist as a member of the Ottawa-Toronto based group The Young Poets of the Revolution.
Since then she has become a respected fixture of the spoken word scene in the t.dot, an arts educator, songwritier and community worker. She is currently one of the founding members of Red Slam Collective:
