Ragging refers to acts that cause physical or psychological harm, embarrassment, or shame to students. It includes teasing, abusing, playing practical jokes on students, or forcing students to do things they do not want to do. Many cases of ragging have resulted in injury, suicide, and even death over the years. While the Indian government has banned ragging, many cases continue to be reported each year. Strict enforcement of anti-ragging laws and education efforts are needed to curb this problem.
