This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to paralegal studies, focusing
on the role and the scope of practice of the paralegal professional in civil litigation and practice.
The structure and jurisdiction of all state courts and the federal court systems are discussed. This
course also concentrates on the development of pleadings, service of process, motion practice,
venue, statutes of limitations, provisional remedies, discovery, depositions, legal terminology,
ethics, and the enforcement of judgments.
PL116 Business Law
This course examines the legal environment of business in the United States. Topics covered in
this course include: structure of the US legal system; types and sources of law; law of agency;
law of contracts; commercial contracts and UCC; forms of business organization; and other
topics of current interest in the field.
