I love problem solving, and the thrill of thinking on my feet. In my freshman summer, I conducted research in genetic engineering at NASA Ames, to create a proof-of-concept of biocementation with Martian sand. Our work went on to win Best New Application at the World Championships of the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition, and was covered by a Scientific American blog, Nasa.gov, and a profile from the Brown Alumni Magazine.
