My undergraduate and graduate education is in computer and electrical engineering, and I worked as a chip designer in the semiconductor industry for 12 years in Austin, Texas. While working the chip industry, I realized most of my technical colleagues lacked emphasis on networking with their local industry peers...to the detriment of their own careers and professional development. In 2007 I founded a community called "Door64" to address that problem through targeted initiatives and events serving Austin's high-tech sector. Over six years I virally grew the community membership to 30,000 technology professionals, hired sales and event staff, and produced over 100 events from networking...
