I was born in Cedar City, Utah to my mother, Mary Jo Story Kirk, and my father, Jeff Cowan. My parents were attending Southern Utah State College, which is now Sourthern Utah University. They divorced when I was 2 and a half while they were living in Orem. My mom stayed and became a teacher, my dad returned to Cedar City and ran my grandfather's store, Hunter-Cowan. My mom was introduced to Kayle V Kirk by a cousin, Gerald and Peggy Jorgense, and they were married. Jeff was also introduced to Debra White by a cousin, Danny and Barbara Cowan (Barbara is also Deb's sister). I was raised by my mom and Kayle, who I called Dad.
