Professor Martin Purvis is Director of the Software Engineering and Collaborative Modelling Laboratory (SECML), a centre for research in distributed interactive systems, artificial intelligence applications, environmental information systems, and agent-based software engineering at the University of Otago. Prior to joining the University of Otago Information Science Department faculty in 1992, Dr. Purvis was an assistant professor of physics at Columbia University and held research positions at LTV Aerospace and Defence Corporation, the University of Texas, and the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation.
