Productmanager Mobile Brechtje de Leij werkt bijna een jaar bij NU.nl aan de bouw van een volledig nieuwe strategie. In die strategie staan de kernwaarden nog steeds centraal, maar krijgt de mens een steeds prominentere plek. Een op de vijf NU-lezers komt namelijk vijf keer per dag op de site en gebruikt hierbij vaak verschillende devices, via zowel sites als apps. De Leij: ¡°Ik ben in november begonnen en dat was precies op het moment waarop het aantal pageviews op mobiel hoger was dan op de op desktop. Sindsdien is mobiel echt ontploft. Een ongelooflijke groei, maand op maand. Elke maand maak ik de statistieken en verbaas ik me weer over de enorme groei. Als we alle sites en apps bij elkaar optellen gaan we nu hard richting de miljard(!) pageviews per maand. Mobiel is daar nu het allergrootste stuk van en daar zit ook nog een enorme groeimogelijkheid. Bij Sanoma hebben we dan ook een mobile-firststrategie geadopteerd.
