Mariana Carvalho has a BS in Physics from the Physics Department of the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2001). She has a master's (2002) and Ph.D. (2006) degree in Physics from the Federal University of Pernambuco. Her doctorate was done with a sandwich period of one year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT (2004-2005). Soon after, she was hired as a researcher, Physical Development, Opto Electronica S/A, where she stayed for three years. Than, she was at IFSC-USP in São Carlos, in the group of Biophotonics, as a postdoctorate fellow. She was at UFPE as a visiting researcher and now she was at Durham University (UK) as a postdoctoral research fellow, funded by CNPq-Braz...
