To my colleagues in District 10 :
As you may know, the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) is
having an upcoming by-election in District 10 and I have decided to put forward my name to
run as the replacement councilor. I offer my past experience and knowledge as a member in
West Toronto to understand and comment effectively on any issues that may come forward
at the RCDSO.
My dental training was completed at the University of Toronto graduating in 1982. I
practice in the Bloor and Royal York area having a solo general practice. I have been an
active member of the West Toronto Dental Society (WTDS) for over 25 years and served on
many different committees and capacities on the executive. Organizing scientific meetings,
serving on governance and newsletter committees and serving as president of the WTDS has
allowed me to learn and work effectively with others to make our profession better from both
a dentist and patient perspective. Serving as an Ontario Dental Association councilor for six
years and most recently as a representative to the Toronto Academy of Dentistry has also
given me a solid and knowledgeable understanding of the workings of these organizations,
again making our profession better for all of us.
We have been very fortunate over many years to have had in West Toronto very
capable and committed representatives to the RCDSO and my goal would be to continue that
commitment. I would seek ongoing input from you, the members, and in return I would
endeavor to keep you informed about what goes on at the RCDSO council, if elected as your
RCDSO councilor.
The remainder of this term will be for six months but it is important for you, the
members of District 10, to have proper representation at all times.
I ask that you please consider me for this position and cast your vote by June 12.
Sincerely,
Dr. Janice Mummery, DDS
