I grew up in Portland, OR, became a Mormon (LDS) at 17, then off to college at BYU for a year, back to Portland to marry my first wife, Janneth, off to Mobile for 2 years at Univ. of South Alabama and one daughter, moved to New Mexico where we had our second daughter and got divorced. Waited a dozen years before getting married a second time to Brenda. During that time, I was active in Science Fiction Fandom, community theater, Toastmasters, and related activities. Gradually dropped out of Fandom after marriage, became disaffected with LDS about '89, was active with Unitarian Universalists for a few years, but because of poor hearing stopped attending.
