Russia has a large video game market with over 141 million people, but piracy has limited the legitimate market. However, the market is growing rapidly due to digital distribution, free-to-play games, and companies lowering prices. By 2016, the Russian game market is projected to reach $1.5 billion. Gamers prefer PC and social games, and payment is mainly done through cash-based eWallets or transfers due to credit card fraud concerns. The market has potential for further growth in ecommerce, social, and free-to-play games as incomes rise and piracy declines.
