I engage in the physics, mathematics, and engineering of digital colour (color) imaging systems, including digital video, HD, UHD/4K/8K, CGI/VFX, and digital cinema (D-cinema). I spell colour with a "u". I do technology forecasting, systems modelling, algorithm development, image processing architecture, colour characterization and calibration, and image quality assessment. I have worked on sensor processing for digital cameras, especially the colour processing aspects. Twenty years ago, I decided that HD should have “square pixels,” and I chose the number 1080 for HD standards (e.g., 1080p24) and digital cinema (e.g., 2048 x 1080).
