8. A LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR MALOU

Malou came home from school. She
was very happy.
¡°You look so happy.¡± Mother noticed.
¡°How was school?,¡± she added.
¡°It was fine, Mom. I learned many
things in school today. I learned that a
flag is a national symbol. It represents
our country,¡± replied Malou.
¡° Yes, the Philippine flag is one of the
most beautifully designed flags in the
world,¡± said Mother.
9. ¡°Our flag is made up of three colors. These
are blue, red and white with a golden yellow sun. The
sun has eight rays. These stand for the eight
provinces that fought for the freedom of the
country. It has also three stars representing the
three major islands of the country¡ªLuzon,Visayas
and Mindanao,¡± said Malou.
Father added, ¡°We Filipinos should respect our
flag. Doing so shows that we love our country.¡±
¡°Yes! I think Filipinos are the most patriotic
people in the world. We are willing to give up our
lives for the Philippines,¡± Mother explained.
¡° That¡¯s right, Father. That is why I make sure
that I always show my love for our country,¡± Malou
said proudly.
