The Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care was founded in 2000 with a mission to significantly reduce heart attack mortality in the United States through an Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC) strategy. The EHAC strategy involves educating patients, bystanders, emergency responders, and hospitals on recognizing the early symptoms of a heart attack and seeking treatment quickly. Over 400,000 people have taken the EHAC pledge to help spread awareness in their communities and save lives. The strategy has been successful in Seattle where bystander participation in assisting heart attack victims is 70% compared to 30% nationally, leading to higher survival rates. The presentation outlines expanding EHAC training to more community groups and measuring its impact on reducing heart attack deaths.

We are where we want to be. We are positioned well. We need a way to measure Community Heart Attack Mortality. We need to see what Hospitals can now contribute. Basically, we need to convert Enablers into Caregivers and go from 20% to 70% knowledgeable people in the presence of persons with early symptoms of a Heart Attack.
