I am an Assistant Professor of Communication in the Humanities Faculty of Young Harris College.
My current research, which has resulted in two co-edited books and multiple peer-reviewed book chapters, journal articles, and encyclopedia entries, builds on my previous work in communication studies, journalism, and popular culture to interrogate representations of crime in the news media. It suggests ways for journalists and media professionals to improve the impact and accuracy of crime coverage by reassessing how they choose sources, establish metaphorical language, and reproduce popular narratives.
