From his early days in theatre to professional photography shoots, Richard Unger’s creativity led his career. Stage lighting – which he learned in his early theatre days – always found its way into his photographs. He still prefers tungsten lighting, the soft hue that creates tones to set mood and atmosphere on stage, he said. “I’ve combined my photography with theatre, because I understand how theatre works,” he said. Born in Merseyside, an area in the North West of England near Liverpool, he grew up around an emerging culture that would produce such greats as the Beatles and the Mersey Beat sound.
