This analysis of potential crossborder technology synergies in the San Diego-Baja California region had Crossborder's President, Kenn Morris, as lead author and lead researcher -- combining data and interviews from both sides of what is now becoming known as the Cali-Baja Binational Region. This 55 page study assessed opportunities for crossborder collaboration and economic growth in a variety of technology sectors, including: medical devices, aerospace and defense, software, marine biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and clinical research, as well as other emerging sectors (including cleantech). Groundbreaking in its time, Borderless Innovation used NAICS-based employment data from both sides of the border to compare these technology clusters, as well as insights on manufacturing trends, university resources, and other regional infrastructure, to outline a vision for stronger economic planning and integration in the San Diego-Baja California region -- if for no other reason than to better compete in an increasingly global environment. Background research for this project took place over two years (2004-2005). ]]>
