Automobile industry is a symbol of technical marvel by human kind. Being one of the fastest growing sectors in the world its dynamic growth phases are explained by nature of competition, product life cycle and consumer demand. Today, the global automobile industry is concerned with consumer demands for styling, safety, and comfort; and with labor relations and manufacturing efficiency. The industry is at the crossroads with global mergers and relocation of production centers to emerging developing economies. Asia has become the major consumer as well as supplier of automobiles. India is concentrating on Middle East and south Asia beside traditional developed country destinations. With the gradual opening up of the component sector, now the challenge is for individual governments to support the development of domestic critical component and sub-system suppliers through, improvement in the investment environment, stronger patent regimes and incentives for R&D. ]]>

To Move Or Not To Move: Cathay Pacific Airways /slideshow/to-move-or-not-to-move-cathay-pacific-airways/63472364 cathaypacific-160627063747
An explosion and fire caused a shut-down at one of Cathay Pacific’s Data Centre offices in Hong Kong in 1991. This was an unprecedented incident for Cathay Pacific. Although the company managed to restore the systems in just thirteen hours after the disaster recovery operation began, and the overall impact on the company’s business was kept to a minimum, the company’s senior management realized that the company should not be exposed to such a risk again. The immediate question raised was: how could the company ensure the security of its Data Centre operation? The overcrowded situation in the multi-tenanted office buildings in Hong Kong had already placed limitations on the Data Center, as it was operating out of three separate offices. Could Hong Kong provide the solution?]]>
