Feedback and Motivation are two significant dimensions of agility. However, theyre seldom looked at as related. Our motivation levels are entwined in the small, everyday things we say and do. As interdependent, social beings operating in collaborative environments, we affect each other profoundly. A co-workers warm, smiling Hello brightens my day, while a I see you, but I dont notice you look from a superior could make it gloomy. Such feedback is all around us and motivates us to be who we are and do what we do. Isnt it imperative then, that we use the power of feedback to motivate ourselves and others to be the best we all can be? Come, lets explore some concepts & tools provided by Transactional Analysis to express the intent and content of our experience as powerful, motivating feedback!]]>

The very first value of the agile manifesto starts with individuals and interactions over processes and tools. This shows how important is the human angle in agile. In the agile world, all the time we talk about change in mindset, human values, servant leadership, respect, working together, etc. But do we practice this in our day to day to life? If yes, how many teams are confident that they are an ideal example that truly adheres to this principle? We can hear teams saying my team member did this and your team member did that while working on the same project. Such behavior is especially very typical in large enterprises. Delivery frequently, talk to your customers frequently, communicate effectively are some of the important behaviors of successful teams. This interactive talk is an attempt to ignite such thoughts for teams that are new to agile adoption as well as for the established teams and assess themselves on the behavior patterns. ]]>

Many great thinkers started proposing the concept of systems thinking and have shown to the world the importance of this thinking and approach. This story also shared about the joys, pains, fights, celebrations and more. Extraordinary Retrospectives By Alex Sloley /slideshow/extraordinary-retrospectives-by-alex-sloley/79677408 extraordinaryretrospectivesrsgi2017-alexsloley-170912104247
Retrospectives are the heart of the feedback loop that exists within an agile framework that fosters self-improvement. Retrospectives lose value due to 2 reasons they get boring or they have no value in terms of actionable items. Alex presented 2 case studies about how to have an extraordinary retro. The first case will describe a teams experience organized at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, Australia. A custom tour was developed that focused on mateship. The second case will describe a teams experience at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, Australia. A prototype team training based on Visual Thinking Strategies, VTS, usually reserved for 11-12 year old school children. Alex described how you can partner with a variety of resources, including government programs, that will enable you to do the same thing.]]>

The session takes a journey into the question Why the question of Challenges in Agile Mindset even after 16 years of Agile Manifesto?. People walk into Agile world being exited, skeptical, pushed by circumstances or wanting for something better. Irrespective of how they come in, most of them board the journey. A few excel, a few survive and a few quit. Frequently we talk about Agile Mindset and its challenges, however very seldom do we speak about transformation at the level of mindset. Mesmerized in the hypes and attractions, newness, people jump in with whatever mindset they are in. How do we even expect Agile Mindset to work or even inspire Agility without addressing the possibilities of agile mindset. This session at Regional Scrum Gathering took the participants into a trans-formative inquiry into the possibilities in an agile journey that goes far beyond a business transformation and Inspiring Agility as a matter of choice.]]>

Over the last 7 years of being involved in Agile adoptions in South Africa, primarily, at large financial services organisations, I have observed trends that have made the adoption of Agile particularly challenging. These are as follows: - Lack of business engagement most Agile adoptions are driven by IT and ignore business - Program execution coordination of large programmes - Team delivery delivery teams are provided with the necessary constraints, conditions and purpose - Lack of systems thinking extending agility to all the supporting functions in the organisation - Lack of Change management typically mandated from executives to deliver the promise of Agile, however, leaders underestimate the impact on people The talk at Regional Scrum Gathering India 2017 was aimed at individuals and organisations that are currently on or starting an Agile adoption by discussing each of these challenges identified and validated through the research as well as providing some options in addressing these challenges.]]>
