(Tentative description) The goal of my PhD is to leverage a distributed network of multimedia content and mechanical and human computational power in order to provide richer forms of information retrieval. Both man and machine will provide rich metadata for the content in the network, but each will contribute in a different way, making sure humans and machines are mainly performing tasks at which they are good at. The computations performed by machines and humans are not carried out in isolation, but are linked together, making it possible to assess the quality of both and apply refinements where necessary.
