As the City of Syracuse's first Chief Data Officer, I am responsible for analyzing the city's data to help make recommendations for doing more efficient and effective work. This process includes building data architecture so much of the historical data that is currently kept on paper can be digitized, and then analyzed effectively. I analyze and visualize the data using a variety of tools, including R, Python, Tableau, and Excel. Following analysis, I've presented findings to the mayor, commissioners and other senior members of city government. The Department of Innovation is funded by a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
