She sat by the window,
Quite erect, yet sly.
With a passive astonishment,
With a hope and a cry.
I looked at her and questioned,
I tried to look through-look by.
Looked if she would justify,
dismiss it, simplify falsify.
With a causeless jolt of dread,
An open-desperate plea.
She looked at me- She smiled,
With confidence-radiance-certainty.
She walked along the path,
With hasty aimless steps.
She looked up and smiled,
Every time she tripped.
Unable to move,
Or just feel.
Trembling and shaking,
Yet no one can see.
The firmness of the mouth,
The steadiness of the eyes.
The twist of the waist,
The shaky feared voice.
Her eyes held no questions,
Just bewilder
