Born in MIlwaukee, pretty normal Norman Rockwell upbringing (other than my mother dying when I was 13). College at Cornell, then to Caltech for a year before Canada for grad school. LIved in Hamilton and Toronto (loved both in different ways). PhD (nuff said), first job at Michigan Tech (fabulous place in so many ways) and now at Penn State for the duration (Update: PSU abolished my department, so 'duration' was 9 years); back on the job market. Married again and very happy with pretty much everything. Sorry for being such an optimist.
