CareCyte is a veterans owned business that was born out of a think-tank assembled by
the Seattle Science Foundation in 2006. The group included doctors, engineers, and
scientists, and served as the incubator for the CareCyte concept: a new way to design and
construct healthcare facilities, in a fraction of the time, using technological innovations to
engineer parts to be manufactured and then assembled into elegant state-of-the art, high-
tech, LEED certified, energy efficient, eco-friendly, pathogen-free, steel and polymer
buildings.

The CareCyte model advocates a de-centralized approach to healthcare. Our belief is that
the right kinds of facilities and ways of working in them allows for an improved patient -
provider experience by creating a patient-centered practice that uses personnel more
efficiently through delivery systems, networking, remote supervision and consultation,
and emerging telemedical technologies. The result is expanded access to care, increased
quality of care, and greatly reduced cost of the delivery of care. CareCyte has also
developed an innovative workflow design that is customizable to the operational needs of
the facility. Once implemented, the cellular care delivery system can yield an annual
savings of up to 40% on operating costs.

The facilitys steel truss assemblies, joints, girders and supports (the skeletal structure of
the building) are precision manufactured using the latest in computer-aided designing and
manufacturing capabilities. This Numerical Control (NC) programming (CATIA system)
is the exact process that is used by Boeing to machine large sections and components of
their military and civilian aircraft. The NC model is also similar to what was used to
create the huge assemblies and parts of the Space Station. The precision fit technology
reduces the time consuming (and expensive) process of hand fitting each piece on
location, as other projects require. This new construction process reduces capital expense
of a new facility by up to 60% versus standard construction and also allows for exact
replication of the same facility in different locations.

Within the facility, the wall panels are made of a polymer, are re-configurable
(potentially savings millions of dollars in remodeling costs), and assembled in a factory
setting where the electrical wiring and outlets, the plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic
piping, and internet Corning ClearCurve fiber are already in place when they arrive at the
construction site. As a result of the pre-wired technology, these units can become the
wireless broadband center for the urban or rural communities being served.

The entire facility is environmentally controlled, using positive and negative air pressure.
The innovation of using a large volume, low velocity air flow filter to constantly remove
airborne pathogens, greatly reduces the risks of hospital acquired (nosocomial) infections.
Since the walls are made of a material that is easily sanitized and will not promote
bacteria, air-borne HAI can truly be mitigated.
