S. Daniel Carter has more than twenty years of experience working to improve college and university campus safety nationally, and serving the victims of campus violence. Daniel graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.A. in Political Science where, spurred by an on-campus murder, he began working on improving campus safety by among other things securing passage of state campus crime reporting legislation through Student Government and the Safe Campuses Now organization. He was recognized for his leadership with the first Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award in 1994, given by the non-profit Security On Campus, Inc. (SOC) organization, founded by the parents of murdered college student
