CKAN is open source data portal software that allows users to publish, share, and find data through a rich search interface. It provides tools to add and edit dataset metadata through a simple user interface, allows customization through extensions, and supports features like geospatial search, visualization, and analytics. CKAN also enables interoperability between data catalogs through its harvesting mechanism and supports multilingual interfaces in over 18 languages.
