2. Maldives or the Republic of the Maldives is
an island nation in the Indian OceanArabian
Sea area. The chains stand at the south-west
of Sri Lanka.
The Maldives is the smallest Asian country in
both population and land area. it is the
planet's lowest country above the mean sea
level. Forecasts predict that the rising sea level
may drown the country.
3. It is located between the Indian Ocean and
Arabian Sea.
Co-ordinates: 3属15N 73属00E
About 1200 islands are present and 200 are
inhabited. It consists of 192 coral islands.
Hot and humid climate.
High vegetation of tropical trees like coconut
and other trees like banana, date-palm,
breadfruit, papaya.
7. The infant mortality rate (IMR) is the number
of deaths of infants under one year old per 1,000
live births.
Infant Mortality rate (per 1;000 live births) in
Maldives was last measured at 9 in 2012, according
to the World Bank. Infant mortality rate is the
number of infants dying before reaching one year of
age, per 1,000 live births in a given year. Infant
Mortality rate (per 1;000 live births) in Maldives is
discussed in the next slide.
11. Death Rate
Mortality rate or Death Rate is a
measure of the number of deaths (in
general, or due to a specific cause) in
a population, scaled to the size of that
population, per unit of time. Mortality
rate is typically expressed in units of
deaths per 1,000 individuals per year
16. Literacy Rate
The total percentage of the population
of an area at a particular time aged
seven years or above who can read and
write with understanding.

18. Initiatives taken
Again, The Maldives Mission has a lot
of contributions towards education
especially in girls.
The Millennium Development Program
has increased the literacy rate with a
steady but an eminent progress.
The educated children are also given
lots of opportunities of employment.
19. SUMMARY
So, as to what we saw, we conclude that;
Maldives health is considered the topmost
priority of the government.
The country is a very prosperous country with an
average literacy rate of 96.41% at present.
Various successful initiatives have been taken to
improve the condition of the country in the fields
of Health and education.
Even though it is a small island nation, the
people are extracting as much as they can from
human capital.
Although it is a developing country, it has almost
all the features a developed country has. In 2010
it was an LDC but it has progressed a lot in
development.
