Volunteers from Jaguar Land Rover helped improve facilities at Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School. They rebuilt gazebos and fences and constructed a clay oven to enhance the school's curriculum. Both the school and Jaguar Land Rover found the project rewarding and plan future collaborations, including a pipe tree sculpture and a wind sculpture designed by students.

Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School Academy had some help from their neighbours recently when Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) came in to help them with their projects. Sarah Cole, Business Manager at Damson Wood, said, Our overwhelming thanks go to Victoria and her team for their hard work and planning. We have really enjoyed working with you, with such a positive and productive approach. The gazebos look a million times better, as does the fence, and we cant wait to get the clay oven up and running. Ms Emily Hughes, Head of School, said, We are thrilled with the work the volunteers from JLR have done to improve the school grounds at Damson Wood for our pupils. In particular, the clay oven will enhance our rich curriculum by enabling the children to learn in the outdoor environment and will support their learning about food and cooking. JLR have helped to provide a resource for our pupils to use for years to come. We are hoping to invite the JLR staff back to enjoy some pizza cooked in our new oven! Victoria Morris, Head of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, AME, at Jaguar Land Rover, said, It was a brilliant three days and we got an awful lot from it. Working closely with the local community, improving the school environment for the children both visually and educationally and working together as team whilst having a lot of fun doing so. We look to undertake future work at the school and have also given the school various car parts for a Pipe Tree for them to grow with the children's input. We also plan to link up with the school's Head of Art so the children can design and install a wind sculpture in the Sensory Garden.
