Editor's Notes

  • #2: I have some highlights and some announcements
  • #3: (2) (3) (4) The day after the last board meeting in November four of our students from Aurora Central High School attended the Tech-It-Out event sponsored by WICT (Women in Cable Telecommunications) group. Students heard lectures, panels, etc. about tech trends and emerging technologies. Really solid event, hope to go every year, it was undergrads and our four high schoolers and they were each assigned chaperones who were also attendees

  • #6: (5) (6) (7) We also attended DeVrys annual HerWorld event in early December. Carolyn Rich and I manned a booth while over Over 300 high school girls from around the state attended the event. Just like last year, I loaned them 30 of the Microsoft laptops for the day so that they could conduct one of the workshops with the girls. KidsTek received really good recognition at the event, our logo was in their presentation slides, brochure (shown here,) etc.

  • #9: (8) (9) (10) Middle School Students from Cole Arts & Science Academy attended another field trip to the Microsoft Store in early December. Great fun as usual, and a chance to continue to work on them for future donations. Jasper Peters their Community Outreach Coordinator contacted me recently, and Rich and I have a meeting set with him for next week. The agenda is that Jasper sees us as one of his strongest community partners and wants to work with us on a plan for 2012 to highlight the partnership, including stories in their quarterly newsletter, etc. Of course we want to work towards another donation the original 100 laptops will finally all be distributed by the end of this school year and we need more. one of the ways Ive kept in their spotlight is to send Jasper photos of our visits to the store, and from events like HerWorld to show how much their donation has impacted the community. Loaves and fishes.

  • #12: (11) (12) (13) I never want to pass an opportunity to talk about our wonderful staff, and how much we appreciate them. Everyone received year-end bonuses in December and we also held a staff appreciation dinner for them at Volcano hibachi bar, which Nancy was able to attend, and to hear directly from the staff their classroom stories. These were quick snaps from my cell phone where the hibachi chef was tossing food from the grill into peoples mouths
