The Ocean Odyssey is a column stabilized drilling unit built in 1988 that is 390 feet long and capable of drilling to depths of 25,000 feet. It has a variable deck load capacity of 4,310 tons and can operate in water depths up to 6,000 feet. The drilling equipment includes a 184 foot derrick, three 1,600 horsepower mud pumps, a 650 ton top drive, and a 49.5 inch rotary table. Propulsion and station keeping is provided by eight variable pitch azimuthing thrusters controlled by a Kongsberg dynamic positioning system.
