So, when I want to specify the specific time in the
past I use the PAST SIMPLE
9. • PAST TIME is used with adverbs of time and
time expressions, as for example
– Yesterday
– Last month / week / year / …
– In 1998 / 2009 / 2013…
– One hour AGO
– When I was twelve …
10. • PRESENT PERFECT is used to talk about
actions in the past, in general, without
specifyng the time. Sometimes you can use
some adverbs, such as ….
– EVER / NEVER
– RECENTLY
– LATELY …
Sometimes TODAY / THIS WEEK / THIS MONTH are
used to indicate an unfinished time period
I have come back from London today

• Sometimes you can have some problems
understandings these two structures
– I have been to Rome
– I have gone to Rome
• The first time meand that you have just come
back from that place. You went and you returned
– I have been to Rome last year
• The second one means that you are in that place
now
