1) Two things are mandatory for voting: being registered on the electoral roll and carrying an approved photo identity document.
2) There are various forms involved in voter registration and obtaining voter ID cards, including Form 6/8/8A for registration, Form 001A for applying for a voter ID at the time of registration, and Form 001C for existing voters to obtain a voter ID.
3) The Election Commission of India is responsible for issuing voter ID cards, and conducts photo ID drives at designated locations according to a published schedule. Citizens can check the schedule and location details through newspaper advertisements or notices sent to those on the voter list.
2. 2 Things mandatory for Voting:
1. Your name should be there in Electoral roll.
ELECTORAL ROLL MEANS
List of registered voters or Voters list.
2. You should carry an approved
IDENTITY PROOF DOCUMENT
So, mere possession of voter ID card
is not enough !
3. VOTER REGISTRATION & ID :
Submit your voter registration (form 6/8/8A)
to your ERO i.e. Electoral Registration Officer.
You can submit (form 001A) to apply for a
voter ID card at the same time.
OR
Once your name appears in voter list - You
can submit (form 001C) to your ERO.
4. Voter ID: Who? When? Where?
Who : Election Commission of India. (ECI)
When : Drives at specific time period.
Where : Designated Photographic Locations.
How : ECI Advt. in all major newspapers,
citizens in voter list get information notices,
All information related to you, date on which
IDs shall be issued & address of DPL.
Time 10 to 15 minutes only !
5. Form 001A with Form 6/8/8A
Enter the name of your state and Assembly
Constituency(AC) in relevant fields.
Enter your name, the name of your relation and
your address as mentioned in your voter
registration form.
Submit 2 copies of your recent passport size
photographs.
Enclose an attested photocopy of any photo-
bearing document for verification of the
photograph. If, Self attested carry original and
DROP this with 6/8/8A at office of your ERO.
6. Form 001C if U R in Voter list:
Under section I, enter the name of your state and
Assembly Constituency(AC) in relevant fields.
Under section I, enter your name, the name of your
relation and your address as mentioned in your voter
registration form.
Ask your Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to fill
out section II.
Under section III, enter your date of birth and attach
a valid age proof document.
Under section IV, affix 2 of your recent passport sized
photographs. Photo attestation is MUST.
7. Registration Forms:
Form 6: INCLUSION OF NAME IN ELECTORAL ROLL.
Form 7: DELETION / OBJECTION TO INCLUSION OF NAME IN
ELECTORAL ROLL.
Form 8: FOR OBJECTIVE TO PARTICULARS ENTERED
IN ELECTORAL ROLL.
Form 8A: FOR TRANSFER OF ENTRY IN ELECTORAL ROLL,
WITHIN THE SAME ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCY.
8. EPIC or Voter ID card Forms:
Form 001A: FOR EPIC AT THE TIME OF VOTER REGISTRATION.
Form 001C: FOR EPIC BY AN EXISTING VOTER.
Form 002: APPLICATION FOR A DUPLICATE EPIC.
Form 004: APPLICATION FOR CORRECTION OF DETAILS IN EPIC.
Key Points:
Dont pay anything if getting voter id first time.
If U have lost one then a FIR along with 002 & fee of Rs.25/-
Once issued your voter ID card is valid FOREVER & in any case.
