Heidi will lead us through a process to determine the tone and personality of your

Heidi Otway, APR

Heidi is experienced in all aspects of media strategy, communications
planning and social media, with a special focus on strategy formation
for clients, new media and community relations. She has developed and
implemented strategic communications campaigns for the Office of the Governor,
Plum Creek Timber Company, The Able Trust and FBMC Benefits Management. Heidi
earned her Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Florida A&M
University. She is accredited in public relations by the Universal Accreditation Board.
10:30-11:30 a.m. - Morning Session 2: Rebranding an Established Brand
Steve and Michelle will lead us through the process and challenges of rebranding
this State Agency’s 23-year-old, established brand.
Steve Murray
Communications Director, Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs
Steve Murray is the Communications Director of the Florida Department of
Veterans’Affairs in Tallahassee, Fla. The retired Air Force lieutenant colonel
provides oversight and direction of the department’s comprehensive
public affairs program of community outreach, media relations and employee
communications impacting Florida’s 1.6 million veterans, their family members and
survivors. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism with honors
from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss. and has a Master of
Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.
Michelle Ubben
Chief Operating Officer, Ron Sachs Communications
A respected communications professional with 14 years of public
relations agency management experience and 14 years of senior-level
service for state government agencies, Michelle Ubben has developed
award-winning campaigns to promote public adoption and prevent child abuse and
brand companies, organizations and causes. She has directed communications for the
Departments of Children and Families, Health and Rehabilitative Services, Agriculture
and Consumer Services, Insurance and the Florida Senate. She also was a reporter for
the Orlando Sentinel and has taught speechwriting at Florida State University.
