If you are going to work with your own data, it is recommended to organize the information in
spreadsheets and to save or export the information in comma separated values (.csv) format.
The criteria to organize the information are user’s choice, but it is recommended to consider the following
standards for representation of coordinates and dates:
1. Standard ISO 6709 for coordinate representation: Latitude and Longitude data are expressed in
decimal fractions of degrees, with precision of 3 decimals ïƒ Â± dd.ddd.
2. Standard ISO 8601 for the exchange and storage of date and time data: Due to the nature of the
data, the extended format for date (YYYY-MM-DD) and time (hh: mm: ss) is recommended.
3. Special characters: Not recommended.
4. Depth information: To create 3D models, it’s mandatory to include depth information. The depth
column should be after the coordinates.

¿How do I create a ModestR Database to import marine data?
R// According to the Tutorial N°1 and Tutorial No °2, first you must create and import a file with the
taxonomy, and then you can upload the data. As you can see, ModestR gives you the chance to choose
different information sources, but if you are interested in marine habitats, don’t forget to select the option
related to it, and if you have depth information, don’t forget to add the field too.

¿What is the Economic Exclusive Zone- EEZ and how can I use
it in ModestR?
1. ¿What is EEZ?
R// The Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ), also known as "Patrimonial Sea," is an area in which the
State has rights over resources there.
2. ¿What is the EEZ for?
R// Are made to delimit, to explore, to exploit, to conserve and to manage the own resources of
each country with exit to the sea, either directly or indirectly.
3. ¿ How do I access EEZs and Maritime Boundaries?
R// Open access information: www.marineregions.org >>Marine Regions >> Downloads >> Exclusive
Economic Zones Boundaries >> World EEZ v9.
