Thank you for organizing this community service project. Going to the YWCA - Druid Heights to distribute the shoes was a heartwarming experience. It was wonderful to see my own children (Arianna 11 y/o and Burris 8 y/o) help other children in picking out their new shoes and assisting them in putting them on their feet. The generosity of so many allowed the kids to not only have a new pair of shoes, but also to have a choice of styles.Ashlee Esplen, PTAPhiladelphia

This was, by far, the biggest gift our shelter has ever received. All the children will now have a new pair of tennis shoes for the summer. This is such a wonderful thing you have done. I still cant believe it ! 油God bless you all!Ms. Sheila HorseyAssistant DirectorYWCA Druid Heights

What a Blessing! I was so excited to hear about this outreach opportunity in Baltimore, giving new tennis shoes to needy children. My heart was filled with joy to see the faces of the children when they put on their new shoes. Words just can't express how I felt and how I still feel. I am so glad that my daughter and her daughter could be here to help and to be a part of this. This was an experience that I will treasure forever. Im looking forward to being a art of this effort again next year in Boston, MA.Wilma Guerra, SPTANorthern Virginia Community College
Thank youOver 200 pairs of new youth tennis shoes and over 500 pairs of new socks were distributed to the families of the YWCA Druid Heights.
A letter from the DirectorThank you so much to you and your colleagues for the donation of new tennis and socks for the children we serve. What an absolutely wonderful phone call to receive! Very rarely do our clients get anything new for themselves so the tennis and shoes and socks were certainly a very welcomed treat. We hope you know how meaningful your time and donations were to our children and their mothers. I couldnt believe the look in the mother's eyes when Brad explained to them that the shoes were given and would cost them nothing. How proud I felt when we were able to tell them that you, members of the APTA, donated the shoes and socks so that their children could have a new pair. And the look on the faces of the children as they looked over the tables and picked out that special pair.Thank you to all who have donated shoes. I have seen first hand the difference you make in the lives of those less fortunate. With each shelter we visited in Baltimore, I was told by its staff how these shoes were a huge blessing. Sister Margo, a volunteer at the Salvation Army - Booth House, made the comment as she looked into the room where we had all the shoes and socks displayed, remarked, this is like Christmas to the kids.
I think now I can understand how Santa Claus must feel when he brings gifts to the kids. I felt the warm appreciation and overwhelming gratitude from the kids as they wore their new shoes around the room. I found it most exciting to assist them in picking out the shoes of their choice. I had never experienced such a thing and am eternally grateful to you for allowing the possibility.
