The Atlanta Jazz Festival (AJF) is a 3-day music festival held annually in Piedmont Park that attracts over 250,000 people. For its 35th anniversary in 2012, the festival featured legendary jazz artists and the next generation of jazz talent. It aims to appeal to Atlanta's diverse population through two stages of music. In addition to music, the festival offers other activities and engagement to create a unique musical lifestyle experience.

A Music Lifestyle Event
2012 marked 35 years for the Atlanta Jazz Festival. This special anniversary
attracted over 250,000 people to Atlantas Piedmont Park over a 3-day holiday
weekend. Since 1978, Atlanta has played host to luminary musicians,
including Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillespie, Nina Simone and Ray Charles.
35 years later, we sustain that legacy welcoming Generation Next legends and
the future of the culture in artists like Tito Puente, Jr., Esperanza Spalding,
Grace Kelly and Robert Glasper. The festivals tremendous popularity is
evidenced by its longevity as a gathering place for music lovers of all kinds.
The AJF audience is as varied as the music itself. Two stages provide a musical
variety appealing to Atlantas diverse population as well as visitors from all
over the country who travel for this very special weekend.
The AJF team works with our partners to create unique engagements that
make this event more than a grand outdoor concert. From the Jazz Eco
Village, to the Beer Garden to our family fun areas, the festival engages our
audiences varied interests to make this a musical lifestyle experience like no
other.

31 Days of Jazz for the entire month of May, leading up to the weekend festival, each day AJF will highlight a
special jazz event in a different venue in the city. Lounges, restaurants, museums and bars around the city host
jazz lovers and expose their audiences to the culture through special performance engagements.
Youth Jazz Band Competition Middle and High School jazz bands from all over Atlanta compete for a chance to
win a scholarship prize and an opportunity to perform on the AJF main stage during the weekend festival.
Neighborhood Jazz Series Atlantas City Council men host mini-jazz concerts in parks around the city each
weekend in the month of May. The Neighborhood Jazz series presents jazz directly to the communities we serve,
with attendance of 600-1000 residents at each event
On Site Engagement The 3-day festival weekend presents an opportunity to reach over 250,000 people from
