neutral typeface that had great clarity, no
intrinsic meaning in its form, and could be
used on a wide variety of signage.
16. In 1960, the typeface's name was
changed to Helvetica (meaning Swiss in
Latin) in order to make it more marketable
internationally.
32. Chanel, recognizing that modern women needed to have their hands free while
attending social functions, designed a double-chain shoulder strap, something
common in downmarket products, but rare in luxury circles at the time.
38. Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the
Renaissance Man, a man of "unquenchable curiosity" and
"feverishly inventive imagination .
!
He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters
of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person
ever to have lived.
45. Font and color scheme of air force one were designed in the ¡®60s for President
Kennedy
46. Much of his early career was spent designing locomotives for out?ts like the
Pennsylvania Railroad company

of the iconic glass bottle, though his most original
work came when designing vending, soda, and
ice dispensing machines

represented by the image of a seashell, but it
wasn¡¯t until 1971 that its logo took on the more

is possible to do, even though
dif?cult, and sense of time
disappears. You forget yourself.
You feel part of something larger.
