The document discusses conceptual art teachings in Canadian art schools. It notes that the Conceptual art movement challenged traditional notions of art by regarding art as a thinking process rather than the creation of tangible objects. Many major Conceptual artists now teach at Canadian schools, ensuring the movement's legacy continues. Students are taught skills like confronting social issues and thinking outside the box. Several art schools are profiled, showing how they incorporate Conceptual art principles and encourage experimentation. Instructors from some schools emphasize ideas over materials and engaging with interdisciplinarity.

This document describes the development of a solid phase microextraction-gas chromatography (SPME-GC) method to analyze the compounds released from Eucalyptus camaldulensis (River Red Gum) leaves and track this dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in aquatic environments. The researchers optimized the SPME extraction conditions using standards representative of compounds likely present in River Red Gum leaf leachate. They then applied the optimized method to analyze artificial DOC solutions prepared from River Red Gum leaf leachate to demonstrate the potential of the method for fingerprinting and tracing natural DOC sources in rivers.
This document summarizes a study on the effects of cyclic flow releases from Dartmouth Dam on biofilms in the Mitta Mitta River in Australia. Biofilms were sampled from two sites in the Mitta Mitta River, a reference site in Snowy Creek, and a control site in the Buffalo River during two periods of low flow releases (200-400 ML/day) and two periods of higher flow releases (300-900 ML/day). The study found that the higher flow releases reduced algal biomass on cobles and artificial substrates but did not significantly reduce total biofilm biomass. Filamentous green algae decreased after high flows while cyanobacteria increased, indicating different taxon responses. The report recommends modifying release patterns

Zander 2007 - Allochthonous DOC in floodplain riversAlek Zander
油
This research article explores using solid phase microextraction gas chromatography (SPME-GC) to fingerprint dissolved organic carbon (DOC) from various allochthonous sources in floodplain rivers. SPME-GC is a solventless extraction technique that can detect semi-volatile and volatile organic compounds in DOC at parts-per-trillion levels. The study examines DOC leachates from leaves, bark, grass, soil and algae collected from the Murrumbidgee River floodplain. Preliminary results found each source material produced complex chromatograms of over 100 compounds and hierarchical cluster analysis distinguished the chemical profiles between sources, indicating SPME-GC could identify source-specific markers for DOC.

This document describes an improved method for measuring soil microbial activity by analyzing carbon dioxide (CO2) production using gas phase flow injection analysis (GPFIA). The traditional method involves trapping CO2 in an alkali solution and then determining concentration indirectly by titration, which is time-consuming and operator-dependent. The new GPFIA method allows CO2 trapped in alkali to be released into a sampling chamber and collected in a syringe for injection into the GPFIA system. A comparison of GPFIA and titration results found no significant difference, but GPFIA uses only a tenth of the sample volume and does not require expensive equipment. The GPFIA method was validated and then applied to analyze CO2

This document discusses Japanese aesthetic concepts like wabi sabi, y笛gen, and their relation to learning. Wabi sabi finds beauty in simplicity and imperfection, and sees everything as constantly changing. It is more a feeling than an idea. Y笛gen represents a deep and mysterious awareness of the universe that cannot be described. These concepts suggest learners accept imperfections and focus on process over product, understanding the natural order without harsh judgments.
