The panel discussion covered new technologies that can be used in elections and voter registration. Panelists demonstrated how Microsoft Office programs like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel can help with tasks like creating forms and tracking voter data. Google products like Google Docs, Sheets, Drive and Maps were also discussed as free alternatives. Specific projects using Amazon Kindle tablets, Google Sheets and Maps for election results reporting were presented. Upcoming alternatives for voting equipment and resources for modernizing election websites were also highlighted. The panel took questions from the audience.

New Technologies in Elections and Registrations (Google Products) Google Cloud Print - lets you print from anywhere to any printer Google Forms - create polls and surveys - created items are mobile friendly - all responses are collected in excel spreadsheet - receive email notifications when response is sent Google Doc - create word, excel, or powerpoint documents w/out have microsoft office loaded on your computer - share the documents with colleagues - allow multiple people to edit your document - can be used on mobile phones - information and corrections in real time

New Technologies in Elections and Registrations Election Results Reporting Project Amazon Kindle Fire HD (personal devices could be used) Used with existing wi-fi in polling locations - worked with schools, others Bluetooth keyboard for easier data entry Amazon Whispercast Used to load state code e-book, Chief Election Officer guide, other forms Enables the loading of all devices simultaneously, saving time and money Enables the loading of wi-fi and other settings to all devices

New Technologies in Elections and Registrations Election Results Reporting Project Google Sheets Voter counts are reported at 10 a.m., 1p.m., and 4 p.m. Does the math, eliminating errors Precinct can transfer numbers to the statement of results Preliminary results are entered by precincts and are immediately available in the main office and also on the public Google Sheet linked on our website - so results are almost real time Sheet is downloaded in Excel format and can then be uploaded to VERIS for state results reporting system

- 9. New Technologies in Elections and Registrations Working with your County Mapping Dept. Fairfax and Loudoun Counties are both currently working with a system initially developed by Fairfax to present election results on election night in map format. Using data provided by the Election Office, the Mapping Department is able to populate a map of precincts and districts with results information. Members of the public can click on the chosen precinct or district and all offices and results that appeared on that ballot are displayed. This technology is available for free to any Mapping office that utilizes GIS.

- #3: There are many products that will make your life easier if you take the time to look for them. Everyone here in some aspect or another should use and be familiar with the microsoft office suite. But we are going to delve a little deeper in how you should be using these tools to make your life easier. (This will especially pertain to small registrar localities) Also everything that i am going to talk about i will be more than happy to send you the forms or information about. I know that everyone here has heard of google. If you have not then welcome to the world of tomorrow. Google has many applications and websites and services that are available to you for Free. Again i have only picked a couple that might benefit you.
- #5: Now on to my favorite GOOGLE. Google Cloud Print print from any device to any printer anywhere in the world!!!! I know this is amazing, because it is. but there is one thing to keep in mind this has to pass through multiple servers so do not print anything with an SSN attached. Google Forms - How many of you hate survey monkey? I know i do...lol but google forms is simple to use, free, and can help you gather data in a simple to use format. Google Doc. - In the previous slides i told you how great word, excel, and powerpoint could be. Well imaging that in a free online format. You have google DOCs. This whoole presentation was created with google docs.
